NuKey Auto - Privacy Policy

NuKey Auto ("the app") is developed by Dirk De Wever. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected.

Data stored on your device

Credentials

Your Nuki Web API token and Smart Lock ID, entered manually in Settings. Stored using Android's EncryptedSharedPreferences backed by the hardware Android KeyStore. Never transmitted to any server other than the official Nuki Web API (api.nuki.io).

Preferences

Theme, language, confirmation setting, door open delay, dynamic colors, and supporter status. Stored locally and never leave your device.

Network communication

The app communicates exclusively with the Nuki Web API at api.nuki.io to retrieve your smart lock status and to send lock and open commands. Your API token is sent as a Bearer token in the Authorization header of each request. No other network calls are made by the app.

Google Play Billing

The app offers optional one-time donations ("Support the developer") through Google Play's billing system. These transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. The app does not process, store, or have access to any payment information.

What we don't collect

No personal information. No usage analytics. No crash reports. No advertising identifiers. No location data. No device identifiers. No advertising. No third-party analytics SDKs.

Android Auto

The app integrates with Android Auto to display your smart lock status and controls on your car's screen. No additional data is collected through Android Auto.

Data sharing

The app does not share any data with third parties. Your Nuki API credentials are only sent to the official Nuki Web API as required for the app to function.

Data retention and deletion

All data is stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data, including your API credentials and preferences. You can also clear the app's data at any time via Android Settings.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
